Character Collections: Final Hours

After funding in only nine hours, the Character Collections project is entering it's final two days. We passed the first stretch goal very quickly, and are rapidly closing in on the second at 500 backers.

The first three books are frighteningly close to done already. I've made the inside covers the repository for "print-your own" counter sheets, so that no one has to buy something separately to have the ability to print counters.  I have to go and put some labels on them, to make them easier to use on the battle-mat, and a few can use a bit of line-work to make sure they're clear at 25mm x 25mm scale.

We're closing in on 500 backers, at which point we add Character Collections 4: Wizards to the roster of books. So if you're in at the PDF only levels, you get four books instead of three.

And if you're in at the new Print+PDF levels...you ALSO get the Wizards book along with your pledge for no extra charge. That was a late-breaking addition.

Pledge Levels Added

In case you missed them, I went back and added some Print + PDF pledge levels, as well as an All the New Things and an Everything Old and New pledge.

Note that All the New Things includes counters...and as of this moment, the CE-Mark requirement for import means I can't offer them. I'm going to work like crazy to fix that in the coming week. I have some names and companies that are going to be hearing from me tomorrow.

All of these new pledge levels "grow" as the stretch goals are unlocked. If we pull a Minnesota Miracle and unlock the last two books, then both print and PDFs are added to those pledges, and the decks and counters are added to the All the New Things and Everything Old and New.

All the New Things?

While the "Everything Old and New" is straight-forward, designed for anyone who has TFT but has never backed one of Gaming Ballistic's Kickstarters, the "All the New Things" is less clear.

It assumes you were part of both the Four/Five Perilous Journeys campaign, and got the PDFs, Books, 63-card deck, and the five sheets of counters. It assumes you backed More Perilous Journeys and got the PDFs and Print copies of those five books.

But that's "all." There were no cards or counters as part of More Perilous Journeys (thankfully - 2020 was bad enough without them).

So this pledge level gets you PDFs and Print versions of all character collections. And associated cards (one deck per book), and counters (1-2 sheets per book, depending).

It also gets you the several card decks that make up the More Perilous Journeys cards, plus associated counter sheets.

That's "everything new."

Retail Level

There's also a retail pledge level for you game store owners. Five copies each of just the print books. No PDFs (can't stick those on a shelf), and the cards and counters are not retail items from GB - they're special Kickstarter items.

But still: 10 of the prior adventures, plus all the Character Collections books...at 50% off.

Please Spread the Word

As the campaign closes, it's still not too late to impact the outcome. Sharing the link for the campaign, or this update, on Twitter, Facebook, RPG.net, Reddit, or any other platform of which you're a part can make a big difference. As my swimming coach used to say: "You pull even harder at the end!"

And then we'll take a breather, and I'll get the Backerkit surveys ready. That's when you can choose any a la carte items you want, upgrade your pledge level if you like, and shipping (and VAT for customers outside the USA) charges are assessed. In a real way, that's where the real decisions are made, so look for that survey and fill it out quickly!

Finally, the PDF portion of this campaign is going to happen very quickly. So you won't be waiting long.

More Perilous Journeys: Live on Kickstarter NOW
almost 4 years ago – Fri, May 22, 2020 at 01:39:09 PM

The More Perilous Journeys campaign, producing five new old-school adventures for TFT, is now live!*

What books?

The campaign features five new adventures. Three expect you to run with a GM at the helm; the other two are solo adventures.

Roc of Sages (Christopher R. Rice and J. Edward Tremlett).*Beset by Collectors - assassins from the Indhyna League - the party must journey to the Isle of Greater Zosi to collect items for the semi-corporeal Jok Sevantes. Of course, there are several dangerous stops along the way. Roc of Sages is designed for 4-6 characters of 34-36 points.

Catacombs of Living Death*(Christopher R. Rice and J. Edward Tremlett).*Following the events of Roc of Sages, Jok Sevantes again calls the party to aid him. They must venture forth through a plague-stricken land, and enter the Catacombs of Eulogia to recover the Helm of Baat. Simple enough . . . but things are not always as they appear. Catacombs of Living Death is designed for 4-6 characters of 36-38 points.

The Sunken Library*(Christopher R. Rice and J. Edward Tremlett).*Set immediately following Catacombs, the players flee the plague-ridden landscape beset by numerous foes. Sevantes' plans reach their climax as his partners must bring all of the previously found artifacts beneath the depths of a lake in Meloria. There, a lost tome sits in the sunken Great Library of Meloria, and matters become treacherously clear. The Sunken Library *is designed for 4-6 characters of 36-38 points.

Dragon Hunt! (David Pulver).*Baron Gwalathar's armies marched off to war. Without its defenders, the dragons of the wild sensed weakness, ravaging the realm. The young Baroness Tanith Gwalathar calls for heroes: It’s time for a dragon hunt! This is a solo/programmed adventure for one 37-39 point character or two 35-36 point characters. It can optionally also be run with a GM.

Dark Lord's Doom (David Pulver).*Another*Dark Lord is on the march, threatening to bring death and destruction to all who oppose, and maybe a few who don't. This solo/programmed adventure features a squad of soldiers fighting in an all-out war to defeat the evil Lord Saethor and his allies before it's too late. Will the Dark Lord's doom fall upon the party, or on the villain himself? *Dark Lord's Doom is designed for 4 characters of 33-36 points each.

Four Perilous Journeys ALL THE THINGS Unboxing Video
over 4 years ago – Tue, Dec 10, 2019 at 01:46:25 PM

This is a nice unboxing video of the Four Perilous Journeys "ALL THE THINGS" pledge level. All five adventures (and the 1-2% error rate on Vampire Hunter Belladonna for assembly problems did not affect this order, so yay!), plus the counter sheets and card deck. Engage MN Passive Voice: "Nice things are said."

Plus: beer.

Book Assembly Error? Please Send Photos
over 4 years ago – Thu, Dec 05, 2019 at 07:53:13 PM

Hey, y'all. If you got copies of the physical adventures and find that there are assembly errors, such as the wrong cover being put on a book, or missing or duplicated pages (Vampire Hunter Belladonna seems to have been the primary culprit here), I'd like to request you take some photos or a video and send it to [email protected]

I relayed my disappointment at the error to the printer, and they  were more or less horrified (as they should be) and wanted to escalate the issue to management. So evidence of the Quality Control slip would be much appreciated!
